"I am the Doctor Ironbeard,
Cure the people my way,
Can make the blind walk,
And that the lame see again."

Johann Andreas Eisenbarth is mainly known today for a mocking song that was probably written by Göttingen students at the beginning of the 19th century. However, Eisenbarth, who died in Münden, was not a charlatan who merely pulled teeth. Rather, he was appointed 'Royal Prussian Court Councillor and Court Oculist' by Frederick William I, King of Prussia, due to his outstanding ophthalmological skills.

In her film 'Er war anders als sein Ruf' (He was different from his reputation), the filmmaker Elgard Steinmüller from Münden explores the tense relationship between cure and luminary. The film provides insights into the life and life's work of Johann Andreas Eisenbarth.

The film will be followed by a discussion about Eisenbarth and his significance for Hann. In addition to the filmmaker, Elli Denker, co-founder of the Münden Guild of Town Guides, will also be available to answer questions during the discussion.
