Der Turm auf dem Hohen Gras wurde von Wanderfreunden als Terffpunkt mit Aussicht auf dem damals kahlen Berg des Habichtswaldes geplant. Die Turmeinweihung erfolgte am 18. Mai 1890. Hier hat der Wanderverein (HWGHV) Kassel eine Gastronomie eingerichtet, die sowohl Wanderfans wie auch sportlich Interessierten vom Kletterpark oder dem kleinen Skigebiet als Einkehr willkommen ist.
