Ausgehend vom Wanderparkplatz erreicht man das Wandergebiet am Schreckenberg. Neben Naturpark-Rundwegen verläuft dort auch der Leitweg des Habichtswaldsteiges und die Extratour H2.
Der Schreckenberg mit einer Höhe von 460 m ist vulkanischen Ursprungs. Charakteristisch für den Zierenberger Hausberg sind die Blockhalden aus Basalt, die während der Eiszeiten aus größeren Steinformationen durch Frostsprengung entstanden sind.
