In the surroundings of Hemeln, along the Frau Holle Trail, circular paths of various lengths invite you to explore the fairytale landscape. Finds of burial mounds prove that the settlement of Hemeln and its surroundings began as early as around 1600 BC. The village of "Hemlion" is first mentioned in writing in 834. With its location on the Weser ford and the historic mountain paths, Hemeln had a supra-local significance. Enjoy the wonderful views of the Weser Valley on the circular trails around Hemeln! Head for the small, romantic valley of the Röhrbach! Here the water from the surrounding springs was collected in a millpond to drive a mill wheel. A forester's lodge now stands on the site of the former mill house. The stream and some ponds are still preserved. Later, the trail leads through a picturesque beech forest and opens up a magnificent panoramic view.
