Historic Packhof

History

The historic Packhof was built between 1839 and 1840 as a warehouse at the so-called Schlagdspitze. Together with the nearby Alter Packhof, which today houses the Hotel Alter Packhof, it served as a storage facility for long-distance trade goods in the 19th century.

After the Weser Navigation Act abolished the staple right in 1823, the economic conditions for trade in Hann. Münden changed. The Packhof stands out distinctly from the half-timbered buildings of the old town due to its size and comparatively simple façade.

Today, the building is used for events, exhibitions, and cultural programs, among other things.

Flood marks are visible on the building, modeled after historical flood marks on City Hall, the church, and other buildings in the city.

Packhof Collective

The Packhof Collective consists of members from Kassel and Hann. Münden and uses the historic Packhof for various cultural and social events.

Through events, exhibitions, and other activities, the Packhof is intended to serve as a place for people to meet and exchange ideas. The program is designed to appeal to people of all ages and with diverse interests.

Art and Culture

From May through September, the Packhof hosts a variety of art and cultural events. These include exhibitions, film screenings at the art house cinema, and live music.

In addition, the collective collaborates with various organizations and initiatives, including DenkmalKunst and the Lesenetzwerk. Further exhibition concepts in collaboration with external partners are planned for the future.

In cooperation with the city, guided tours are also offered, during which visitors can learn more about the history and use of the Packhof.
