Hotel "Alte Windmühle"

The Alte Windmühle is a historic half-timbered building in the old town of Hann. Münden. The building was constructed in 1398 and underwent extensive renovation in the years leading up to 2010, after which it was converted into a bed-and-breakfast hotel.

The hotel offers non-smoking rooms with a shower/toilet and TV. Parking spaces and a bicycle storage room are also available.

A distinctive feature of the building is its so-called post-and-beam construction, in which the load-bearing wooden beams extend across multiple stories. The building’s large archway was restored during the renovation. Horse-drawn carts used to enter the building through this entrance.

Before it was converted into the former restaurant “Zur Windmühle,” the ground floor was likely used as a stable. The apartments on the upper floors were added at a later date.

After about a year and a half of construction, the building opened in 2010 as the “Alte Windmühle” bed-and-breakfast hotel. The design combines historical features of the half-timbered house with modern elements made of aluminum and glass.

The hotel has ten single and shared rooms with a total of 19 beds.
