Der ehemalige Gutsbesitzer Martin Ernst von Schlieffen (1732 – 1825) hat auf Gut Windhausen eine Horde Affen gehalten. Sie lebte teilweise frei im Park und überwinterte in einer Menagerie, dem sogenannten Affenhaus. Die abgebrochene Säule, die um 1785 schon so errichtet wurde, soll an die Affen erinnern.
