Schwalm Radweg

The Schwalm cycle path runs for about 100 km from the source of the Schwalm near Feldatal-Meiches in the Vogelsberg district to the mouth of the Eder river just outside the gates of the 3-castle town of Felsberg in the Schwalm-Eder district.
 The cycle path runs mostly on paved or paved paths through a beautiful river landscape with meadows and fields, villages and half-timbered towns.  Only rarely are short climbs manageable.
 In the Schwalmaue from Alsfeld to Schwalmstadt-Treysa the route runs completely flat and offers wonderful views of nature.  Here you will pass through the fairytale cultural landscape of Schwalm, which is known for the colorful costume of the same name.  The unmarried women wore a little red cap, which is said to have inspired the Brothers Grimm to the fairy tale of the Little Red Riding Hood and today gives its name to the Land of the Little Red Riding Hood.

Alsfeld and the Schwalmstadt districts of Treysa and Ziegenhain are worth a relaxing stroll through the old town. Numerous lakes and ponds flank the cycle path from Schwalmstadt via Bad Zwesten and Borken to the Three Castles town of Felsberg. Rest areas, beer gardens and restaurants invite you to take a break.

The Schwalm cycle path is an attractive section for long-distance cyclists
an interesting north-south connection. Coming from the Weser cycle path via the Fulda cycle path R1 and the Documenta city of Kassel, the cyclist continues along the Eder cycle path to the Schwalm cycle path. Via the Hessian cycle path R4 you reach the Nidda cycle path south of Alsfeld, which leads you to Frankfurt a.M.
