More information
It is a 3-storey half-timbered building with a hall in the front wing extending over the ground floor and 1st floor - a common building style in Hann. Münden during the Renaissance. It is a typical merchant's house of this period and one of the few where this construction method is still recognisable. The large hall once served as a warehouse or trading office.
In the past 444 years, the house has not only witnessed the siege of the town and the killing of a large part of the population by General Tilly during the 30 Years' War (Whitsun 1626), but also, from 1663 onwards, the life, work and finally the death (1727) of the famous itinerant doctor Dr. Eisenbart.
Despite this eventful past, the special charm of the building has been preserved until today.
