Im Jahre 1770 wurde in Korbach eine jüdische Kultus-Gemeinde gegründet. 125 Jahre später wurde die neuerbaute Synagoge mit 130 Sitzplätzen fertiggestellt. Sie wurde nach Schilderungen am 9. November zwischen 20.30 Uhr und 21.30 Uhr am Vorabend der Pogromnacht von SS-Männern angezündet. Die einzigen Überbleibsel sind ein Leuchter und der Rest eines Balkens, die heute im Wolfgang-Bonhage-MUSEUM KORBACH aufbewahrt sind.
