This challenging cycle tour starts in the historic three-river town of Hann. Münden on the Weser.

The Weser-Harz-Heide Cycle Route, known as RFW 5, offers cyclists an exciting journey from Hann. Münden deep into the beautiful landscapes of the Harz Mountains. With an impressive total length of 410 kilometres, this cycle path is a valuable part of Lower Saxony's long-distance cycle path network. The path begins in Hann. Münden, a charming three-river town enriched by around 700 historic half-timbered houses, and then winds its way through the idyllic Leine valley.

On the way, pedalers cross the hilly Dransfeld plateau, passing cultural and natural highlights such as the Hoher Hagen, a vantage point with a rich geological heritage. Göttingen, the old university town, invites you to take a relaxing break with its rich cultural offerings.

Further east, the cycle route winds its way through the picturesque Gartetal valley and historic Duderstadt, which impresses with its medieval town centre and imposing town hall. A visit to the Rhume spring near Rhumspringe, one of the largest karst springs in Europe, promises a particularly magical moment.

After an eventful ride on a former railway line, cyclists finally reach Herzberg am Harz, where there is the option of continuing the journey by train or continuing the route through the Harz Mountains - the choice is up to the adventurer! The Weser-Harz-Heide cycle route is not only a ride through varied landscapes, but also an invitation to discover the hidden treasures of Lower Saxony's regions.

From the signposting to the cultural experiences and the well-coordinated infrastructure, this cycle route offers everything you need for a successful multi-day tour. It is not only a sporting challenge, but above all an experience that brings the history and beauty of Lower Saxony to life.
